Gutex is planning to replace all wood-fiberboard products worldwide by 2020, the company announced on Tuesday.
The company is replacing wood-based products worldwide in a bid to reduce emissions from fossil fuel-powered transportation.
“By 2020, Gutex aims to replace more than 4 billion wood- and fiber-board products globally, which means there will be no wood- or fiber-boards available to people who want to use them,” the company said in a statement.
Gutex has been one of the biggest players in the market for wood-and-fibreboard replacement for more than two decades.
The Swedish-based company said it expects to have installed more than 20 million wood-board replacement products worldwide.
The announcement came just weeks after the German government announced that it will allow the wood-filled fiberboard industry to compete with the carbon-based fiberboard business, which is largely owned by Ikea and the German company DHL.
